they may not have as many soup options than other resto but i tried 3 of 6, they are all good! if you crave for and capable to eat very spicy, go with spicy hot pot it’s very good with rice. i can’t keep eating too hot and spicy so tom yum is good if i want a little spicy. the $3 for unlimited rice and ice jelly is so worthy too, just that your gna be 120% stuffed

Favourite malatang place of all time! The soup base is sooo flavourful it’s addicting . I will say, the restaurant is very Asian so when I first walked in I couldn’t understand the Chinese sign saying to separate specific items . But now as a regular I do feel slightly more comfortable coming in person than before. Though I might prefer to order online. Just something for CBCs or ABCs to be aware of if it’s their first time coming.

My favourite Maocai in Toronto! I saw that there seemed to be a lot of new dishes, so I tried it! Spring bamboo shoots are still my favorite! I don't know why their bamboo shoots are fresher and crisper than those bought in the Chinese supermarket. I recommend my favorite duck intestines, duck blood and kelp seedlings(海带苗)! (I didn't have time to take a photo and they were eaten)

I was a bit disappointed with the Mala soup base the second time I tried it. I think the level of spiciness may have been the issue. If it were spicier, it would probably taste better with more chilli oil. Also, I really enjoy the ‘Tianshui’ Mala soup base, which is so flavorful. One more thing, the beef tripe was overcooked and hard to chewy. During my first visit, I was impressed with the aroma of the chilli soup base. The chilli oil is amazing and smells so good, making it taste like I'm in China. However, I can't get used to the sesame soup base, which is too creamy. Anyway, I will definitely come back and look forward to trying more.

The food was good but the soup bases were a bit limited for spiciness levels. There wasn’t much service since it was more of a “serve yourself” except for the cashier and the waiter for the soup. The atmosphere was really cute, but the reason why I gave it 4 stars was because the chairs hurt The back was a bit hard and you can’t lean back, but asides from that, it was really nice. Very filling as well. Highly recommend!

Great place for a cozy, authentic and warm meal! You get to hand-pick ingredients you want in your hotpot, they cook it for you and bring everything to you, ready to eat. A candle will keep the pot hot for the duration of the meal. We had the extra spicy and numb soup base and it was definitely fragrant and spicy enough for our taste. The staff is very friendly, and instead of having a table number, you are given a huge mahjong piece!

This place is absolutely amazing! While the prices are a bit higher than other spots, it’s definitely worth it since you get unlimited refills on rice and desserts! Here’s how it works: Grab an empty bowl, pick your choice of veggies, meat, or seafood, and they’ll weigh it to determine the price based on the total weight. You can customize your meal by selecting your preferred broth, adjusting the saltiness, and choosing whether you want it spicy or not. You can even decide between a soupy or dry version! There are rice cookers near the dessert section, but be sure to finish your portion before grabbing more. As for desserts, they’re delicious! They serve a refreshing cold ice jelly with a variety of toppings to mix and match. Definitely a must-try!

成都赵三孃冒菜·麻辣烫 (Chengdu Zhaosanniang) stands out as a genuine taste of Sichuan right in Scarborough. Nestled at 4186 Finch Ave E unit 31, this spot brings authentic mala delights that immerse you in bold, vibrant flavors from the heart of Chengdu. The brand’s focus is clear: delivering consistently rich and addictive soup bases, whether you crave the signature spicy hot pot or a milder tom yum option that still carries a gentle kick.

The highlight here is undoubtedly their soup bases. Regulars praise the complex, aromatic chilli oil that evokes the bustling street stalls of Sichuan, making each bowl deeply satisfying. While spice lovers can revel in the fiery mala soup, there’s also a diverse range including the unique 'Tianshui' mala, known for its balanced, savory depth. Additionally, the option of unlimited rice and ice jelly at just $3 adds a comforting, filling touch to the meal, perfectly rounding out the experience.

The ingredient quality truly shines through, especially in their fresh bamboo shoots which consistently outclass those commonly found in local Asian markets. Signature toppings such as duck intestines, duck blood, and kelp seedlings offer an authentic range of textures and flavors, emphasizing the brand’s dedication to traditional Sichuan offerings. Though some found the seasoning levels and cooking times on certain items like beef tripe could be improved, the overall flavor and boldness remain true to the mala cuisine’s roots.

Service here is straightforward and largely self-serve, fostering a casual dining environment that complements the authentic and unpretentious vibe. The atmosphere, described as cute and cozy by patrons, invites you to dig into a hearty meal — though seating comfort could use some attention. For first-timers unfamiliar with the ordering style, some patience may be required, but the warm, rich spice-layered broths are more than worth the brief learning curve.

In essence, 成都赵三孃冒菜·麻辣烫 embodied a genuine Sichuan spice journey in Toronto. It captures the essence of mala with flavorful, addictive bases and fresh, quality ingredients that keep patrons returning. Whether you’re a spice veteran ready to test your limits or seeking a balanced warming bowl, this spot promises a bold, deeply satisfying experience that stays true to its culinary roots.
